We’ve a whole lot of love for Luthenay forest

On the banks of the Loire near the town of Luthenay Uxeloop, you’ll find a 110 hectare area covered in beautiful trees and teeming with life. We’ve been managing the forest since 2019 and we’ve fallen in love with the place.  

All kinds of species

One reason we enjoy our work in Luthenay so much is the fantastic range of tree species there. Deep in the heart of the Sologne Bourbonnaise, the forest is made up of red oaks, poplars, Douglas firs, as well as Taeda and Laricio pines. 

The variety makes for interesting and vibrant woodland, but it poses challenges for our forestry team too. Over the coming months and years, we’ll be working hard to reforest the area where necessary and make sure it is managed sustainably.

Building biodiversity

Our love for Luthenay also comes from its incredible biodiversity. Apart from the range of tree species, you’ll also find diverse plant life and vegetation, which makes the area the perfect home for many birds and animals.  

What might you discover on a day in the forest? There’s wild boars, roe deer and foxes, but also pheasants, pigeons, thrushes, blackbirds and a whole host of other species. The trees are a haven for wildlife and the work our forestry team is doing will only help the forest’s biodiversity grow and grow. 

What next for Luthenay?

Our primary objective is to continue the great reforesting work that we’ve already begun and seen success with. But we also want to create an environment that attracts even more plant and animal life to the area.
