### European crab apple
A symbol of countryside generosity, authenticity, and a return to simple pleasures, the European crab apple is the ancestor of all our cultivated apple trees. It is a humble and abundant tree that gives without counting. It is a natural and sincere gift to celebrate a birth, a genuine friendship, or the beginning of a garden you hope to see full of life.
Its pink and white spring flowers are among the richest in nectar for wild bees and pollinators, and its small, tart autumn apples feed a wide variety of species, thrushes, blackbirds, foxes, and badgers. It is one of the most precious trees in hedgerow habitats for local biodiversity.
The European crab apple (Malus sylvestris) is a shrub or small deciduous tree of the rose family, naturally present in open woodlands and hedgerows across Europe. The wild ancestor of all cultivated varieties, it has a remarkable tolerance for poor soils and exposed conditions.

### About Montplonne Forest
### About Montplonne Forest
Between the communes of Montplonne and Stainville, the Montplonne Forest is located. The property is made up of 3 forest clusters comprising more than ten different species of trees. These include [whitebeams](/en/species/31), [Austrian black pines](/en/species/29) and Norway maples.
We acquired this large forest in the autumn of 2022 with the aim of bringing it to its full potential by adapting our management to its natural characteristics. Sanitary cuts were carried out there by the previous owner to combat the spread of bark beetles due to repeated droughts and mild winters in recent years.
