About Montplonne Forest

About Montplonne Forest

Between the communes of Montplonne and Stainville, the Montplonne Forest is located. The property is made up of 3 forest clusters comprising more than ten different species of trees. These include whitebeams, Austrian black pines and Norway maples.

We acquired this large forest in the autumn of 2022 with the aim of bringing it to its full potential by adapting our management to its natural characteristics. Sanitary cuts were carried out there by the previous owner to combat the spread of bark beetles due to repeated droughts and mild winters in recent years.

EcoTree’s forestry actions

EcoTree’s forestry actions

This forest has been subject to sanitary cuts due to the invasion of bark beetles, but also to a clear cut of Douglas fir before we purchased the land. There is therefore a lot of regeneration work to be done on some 25 hectares. The coming plantations will support natural regeneration and will take place from winter 2023/2024: sessile oaks, laricio pines from Corsica, Austrian black pines and Atlas cedars. There are also larches in good condition, which our sustainable management aims to bring to maturity. There are also many diverse species.
