From the Latin "Fraxinus" (lightning), because, isolated, it attracts lightning, Ash is a pure European strain. It likes to grow in sunny areas, riversides or mixed forests. It is particularly characterized by its high rusticity since it can withstand negative temperatures down to -17°. Today, Ash covers 2.6% of French forests.
