The goal is to create an irregular high forest capable of producing timber and enriching biodiversity in a predominantly agricultural region. After soil preparation in autumn 2025, the saplings will be planted from in winter 2025/26. This will be followed by the usual management work: clearing, protecting the seedlings, before the first thinning operations, some twenty years after planting. We will plant an array of tree species, including: - Plots 1 & 2: [Sessile Oak](/en/species/4) (85%), Wild Cherry (5%), [Checker tree](https://ecotree.green/offres/essence/alisier-torminal) (5%), and Scots pine (5%). - Plot 3: [Cedar](/en/species/3) (70%), [Sitka spruce](%epicea-sitka%) (20%), [Beech](/en/species/30) (5%), and [Douglas fir](/en/species/2) (5%). For the first few years, the forest will be fenced in to avoid wildlife eating the young trees.
