### Expected gain
The expected gross gain corresponds to the amount (in the selected currency) that we will pay you back when your trees have been cut. It is based on the natural growth rate of a tree, which is estimated at around 2% per year. This expected gain is referred to as “gross" because it is calculated on the basis of the price of the tree excluding VAT.

### Hornbeam
**A symbol of tenacity, quiet discretion, and silent generosity**, the Hornbeam is a humble tree that gives endlessly to the wildlife and plants around it. It is **an ideal gift for someone who appreciates nature** in its most subtle forms, or to mark a solid and lasting friendship.
Its small winged fruits feed tits, finches, and other seed-eating birds in autumn, while its flowers attract many pollinating insects in spring. In hedgerow habitats, it forms with other species an irreplaceable biodiversity corridor for the small wildlife of fields and woodlands.
The Hornbeam (*Carpinus betulus*) is a deciduous tree of the birch family, whose wood is one of the hardest and densest in Europe. Once indispensable for making tools, millwheels, and mechanical components, it is today recognised for its essential role in hedgerow habitats and mixed forests.

### About Peyrat-de-Bellac Forest
### About Peyrat-de-Bellac Forest
Located in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine in central France, the Peyrat-de-Bellac forest stands out for its rich biodiversity. This land, which we acquired in May 2023, is home to a unique ecosystem of preserved meadows and ancient hedgerows. These wet meadows are managed sustainably, encouraging their specific flora. As crucial structural elements, the hedgerows are carefully maintained to support the local fauna. The aim is to afforest only a part of the property, thus preserving an open environment. Today, the forest is dominated by [sessile oaks](/en/species/4). The Peyrat-de-Bellac forest has another unique feature: it is home to the plant 'Galium debile', slender marsh-bedstraw, an endangered species in the Limousin region. This rare plant thrives on the banks of streams on unwooded plots of land.
