Beech

The Common Beech (Fagus sylvatica), also known as the European Beech, is a deciduous tree belonging to the beech family Fagaceae. It is native to Europe, Asia, and North America. The natural range extends from southern Sweden to northern Sicily, West of France, Southern England, Northern Portugal, Central Spain, and east to Northwest Turkey, where it intergrades with the oriental beech (Fagus orientalis), which replaces it further east.

About Ploërdut 5 forest

Located in Brittany, our Ploërdut forest is made up of four individual plots that we acquired gradually over a period of time.
Ploërdut 5 has a small existing forest, which we have preserved. The rest of the area including meadows and a former agricultura land had already beeing cleared by the former owner. Here we will plant Beech, Nordmann Fir, Sessile Oak, Scots pine, Western Red Ceder, Giant Redwood, Sitka spruce and Monterey Pine with the aim of achieving a mixed forest with continuous cover.
