### Red Oak
**A symbol of passion**, brilliance, and vitality, the Red Oak puts on one of the most striking shows of autumn, its foliage blazing in flamboyant reds and oranges. It is **an exceptional Valentine's gift**, a wedding, or any occasion that deserves to be marked with brilliance and generosity.
Its acorns are a precious food resource for jays, pigeons, and small mammals, and its generous canopy shelters many invertebrate and nesting bird species. Its fast growth also makes it an effective contributor to the structure and richness of mixed forests.
The Red Oak (*Quercus rubra*) is a deciduous tree native to North America, introduced to Europe in the 17th century and today perfectly acclimatised in our forests. Recognisable by its large pointed leaves with deep lobes, it can reach 25 metres and live for more than 200 years.

### About Gourin forest
### About Gourin forest
The Gourin forest is located near the Conveau forest, within the commune of the same name, which is one of the most watered communes in Morbihan with an average annual rainfall of 1000 mm. This forest was originally made up of agricultural meadows that were left to be abandoned, as the terrain was not suitable for farming due to its sloping and isolated nature. With lack of maintenance, the meadows were overtaken by wasteland and oaks, willows and birches grew haphazardly amidst brambles and ferns on certain plots.
This forest plot changed hands multiple times, with different owners holding parcels of the property in joint ownership, until the last owners agreed and decided to sell the land to EcoTree in order to create areas for sustainable tree plantations.
