About Lanrivain and Plouguernevel forest

The Lanrivain forest is located in the heart of Brittany, in the southern part of the area called Côtes d'Armor. Aim for the four standing stones that are still visible, remnants of the Neolithic era (the Guer an Moc’h, Leur Min, Kerlagadec, and Kerbalénou menhirs), take two hundred steps and you’ll be there!
Bordered by a small lake, this forest is a former clear-cut area that was partially replanted, first by its previous owner in 2008 and 2016, and then by EcoTree in 2019. The main tree species chosen for this approximately twenty-hectare plot is Sitka spruce.
A wetland is also present on the plot, which helps the biodiversity thrive.

EcoTree’s forestry actions

EcoTree’s forestry actions

Immediately after taking over management of this forest, we planted Sitka spruce. Subsequently, inter-row mulching was carried out to clear the plants from competing vegetation and ensure their growth. These inter-row mulching operations, performed using a forestry mulcher, also aimed to provide access for workers to manually clear the plants.
Fill plantings were then carried out, and the plants were treated with Trico, a sheep fat-based repellent, to prevent damage caused by deer.
In the coming years, we will ensure the growth and sustainable management of the plants through fill planting, if necessary, as well as additional inter-row mulching and clearing of saplings.
