Scots Pine

The Scots pine (Pinus Sylvertris), also known as Scotch pine or Baltic pine, is a part of the Pinaceae family, like Fir and Spruce. Pinus is the Latin name for the Umbrella pine, while sylvestris means "wild, far from habitation". The Scots pine adapts well to different types of habitats. It grows well on mountains, and sandy or gravelly soils, and less well in limestone soils.

About Ploërdut 5 forest

Located in Brittany, our Ploërdut forest is made up of four individual plots that we acquired gradually over a period of time.
Ploërdut 5 has a small existing forest, which we have preserved. The rest of the area including meadows and a former agricultura land had already beeing cleared by the former owner. Here we will plant Beech, Nordmann Fir, Sessile Oak, Scots pine, Western Red Ceder, Giant Redwood, Sitka spruce and Monterey Pine with the aim of achieving a mixed forest with continuous cover.
