Trinité Langonnet forest

The Trinité Langonnet forest is located in Brittany. It used to be an agricultural land but was taken over by EcoTree in May 2021. Since then, it has been reforested, mainly with sessile and oak seedlings.
This forest has a remarkable biodiversity: it shelters a wetland and is located between several important ecological zones, integrating itself within these protected areas (Natural Zones of Interest for Ecology, Fauna and Flora (ZNIEFF) of type I and II). It is also partly involved in ‘Natura 2000’, which is a network of protected areas covering Europe's most valuable and threatened species and habitats. This initiative applies to the Ellé river as well as to the moors of Kermadou and a sandstone hill reaching a height of 292 metres, the highest summit in Morbihan, called Saint-Joseph. It is home to dry moorlands and provides a very interesting habitat.

Following the management takeover by EcoTree in 2021, this forest underwent a plantation. Once the authorisation files were approved by the DREAL, sessile oak seedlings were planted.
To prevent damage to these plantations, a deer control plan was implemented.
In the coming years, a thinning is planned in the wooded areas, and new sessile oak seedlings will be planted.

This forest has an abundance of biodiversity, particularly in terms of fauna. That is why an inventory was conducted to identify species of high conservation value. As a result, several species of mammals, bats, butterflies, amphibians, reptiles and breeding birds were detected.
Furthermore, in 2021, an ecological study was carried out to restore the wetlands and rivers. A honey hedge was also planted, and beehives were installed to promote pollination.
There are numerous upcoming biodiversity projects in this forest. They include the reopening of wetlands and the creation of forest ponds. Additionally, piezometers will be installed to monitor the groundwater level on-site. The forest is also being considered for the Wildlife Estates label following the conducted inventory.
