We became a B Corporation in 2021 in recognition of our corporate mission, consistent impact on the environment, ecological action and transparent governance. We are in the world’s top 5% of B Corps in the ‘Environment’ category and continue to lead and support our communities, employees and customers.
EcoTree was the first company to receive approval from the Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF) as an ‘intermediary in miscellaneous assets’ for our forest investment model. Regulated under French law, we are also supervised by the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority (Finanstilsynet).
EcoTree’s approach to responsible forestry and climate action has been widely recognised across Europe. In 2021, we were named a Best For The World™ B Corp in the Environment category, ranking in the top 5% globally for environmental performance. We’ve also received the Environment Award at France’s Tech for Good Awards 2020, the People’s Choice Award at the Danish SDG Tech Awards, and the Mastercard Lighthouse MASSIV Award in 2022 for scalable climate impact. Our model continues to earn regional and national awards aligned with local sustainability goals.
We developed our own carbon methodology to calculate the amount of carbon your trees sequester. Verified by Bureau Veritas, an internationally recognised organisation, it means you can accurately measure the impact your company’s actions have on the environment. You can then share that data with your team and stakeholders.
At EcoTree, we manage our forests sustainably, going beyond PEFC and FSC® certification standards. We adopt a Close to Nature approach, favouring mixed, uneven-aged species forests with continuous cover and without clear-cutting. This ensures lasting biodiversity, ecosystem resilience, and responsible forest management.
United B: Addressing residual emissions
After taking steps to minimise its carbon footprint, United B is now tackling its residual scope 1 and 2 emissions, around 5,900 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent, via a carbon removal initiative. The carbon credits are verified by Bureau Veritas and stem from French forestry projects that use a continuous-cover method tailored to diverse, mixed-species forestry.
Stadtwerke Karlsruhe: restoring a wetland
Since January 2024, Stadtwerke Karlsruhe has been working with EcoTree to restore a 7-hectare wetland in the Pfälzerwald nature reserve, an ecologically important Natura 2000 site in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. This partnership reflects the company’s strong commitment to sustainability and safeguarding essential water resources. By supporting the renaturation of this degraded wetland, Stadtwerke Karlsruhe is actively investing in climate protection, biodiversity, and the long-term resilience of a vital natural habitat.
Origins: Building customer loyalty through regional reforestation
For more than a decade, Origins has joined forces with global partners to advance tree planting efforts around the world, with over 2.3 million trees pledged, planted, and cared for since 2009. To extend this mission closer to home, Origins Nordic teamed up with EcoTree to create local environmental impact. Since 2021, the brand has supported the planting and upkeep of over 11,000 trees in France and Denmark, engaging customers through both in-store and digital initiatives.

We are experts in sustainable forest management. The trees you buy in our forests sequester carbon and help slow the erosion of biodiversity. When you buy EcoTree trees, you actively contribute to achieving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and fighting climate change.
EcoTree’s nature-based projects help companies meet key sustainability reporting and climate action requirements under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), specifically:
- E1 (Climate change) through measurable carbon removal,
- E3 (Water and marine resources) via wetland restoration, and
- E4 (Biodiversity and ecosystems) through long-term forest and habitat stewardship.
Our verified carbon projects can also support companies aligned with the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) by addressing residual emissions in line with net-zero goals. While carbon removal should complement deep emissions reductions, our projects offer a transparent, nature-positive pathway to addressing remaining Scope 1, 2, and, in some cases, Scope 3 emissions.
We work closely with clients to ensure alignment with evolving regulatory and voluntary standards and to provide clear documentation for sustainability disclosures.
Every tree and carbon credit is fully traceable through a secure client platform, where users can view GPS coordinates, download certificates, and follow the audit status of their credits. Our carbon accounting methods are independently audited at regular intervals to ensure accuracy.
In addition to carbon traceability, we monitor biodiversity through structured field assessments. Our teams track key indicators such as species diversity, habitat quality, and ecosystem health, ensuring each project supports long-term ecological resilience alongside climate goals.
EcoTree’s carbon credits are verified by respected third-party organisations to ensure they meet strict environmental and methodological standards. We collaborate with Bureau Veritas in France and Denmark, as well as MoorFutures in Germany and Belgium, and adhere to the Woodland Carbon Code in the UK. These bodies assess project design, additionality, and long-term impact to guarantee the credibility of each credit.
You can explore the full scope of our carbon removal initiatives on our carbon page. Our carbon experts have also written a white paper designed to help organisations ask the right questions before committing to a carbon strategy, an essential step in building a credible and effective climate plan.
Our initiatives contribute directly to multiple SDGs by: restoring forests, preserving biodiversity, and supporting local economies. These include Water Management (SDG 6), Decent Work (SDG 8), Responsible Consumption (SDG 12), Climate Action (SDG 13), Life on Land (SDG 15), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17).
A wide range of organisations, from SMEs to international companies, like United B, partner with EcoTree to address their residual emissions and support nature-based climate solutions.
We work closely with each partner to identify projects that align with their sustainability goals and company values, whether that's forest- or peatland-based carbon removal, wetland restoration, reforestation, or afforestation. These collaborations are built on shared commitments to measurable impact, ecological integrity, and transparent reporting.
