From the forest, you can catch a glimpse of the Mont Saint-Michel, the highest point in Brittany (385 m). The forest is made up of more than ten different species, including Vancouver fir, sycamore maple, wild cherry, Sitka spruce, chestnut, Douglas fir and red oak. There is also a wealth of biodiversity, with a river and two ponds below the plot. Biodiversity features: 1 river and 2 ponds Open to the public: 01/04 to 01/09 ### EcoTree’s initiatives ### EcoTree’s initiatives Since we took over the management of this forest. we planted an area with Sitka Spruce in 2020. In 2021, the poplar plot was thinned to reduce the number of stems in the stand and favour those with greater potential. Additionally, some Vancouver fir trees in poor condition were put up for sale to make the most of the standing timber. Finally, during that year, maintenance work was carried out in the [Sitka spruce](/en/species/1) stand being reforested. In 2022, the Vancouver firs were sold after a felling, along with other trees that did not belong to EcoTree customers. In 2023, Storm Ciarán heavily affected the **Pleyben forest**. Some of the trees in the forest were damaged or fell during the storm, particularly [Douglas fir](/en/species/2), Sitka spruces, Wild Cherry, Maples and Red Oaks. In the summer of 2025, the fallen or damages conifers was removed from the forest, and the deciduous trees are scheduled to be removed in the winter of 2025/2026. New plantations will replace them in the spring of 2026. [ See more trees ](https://ecotree.green/en/companies/treeshop) ### EcoTree’s actions for biodiversity ### EcoTree’s actions for biodiversity To preserve the forest's biodiversity, we removed certain poplar trees that were causing the riverbank below to collapse and threatening to damage it. Over the next few years, we aim to carry out ornithological, odonates (dragonfly) and amphibian inventories. We will also be taking action to prevent the spread of invasive exotic species. Finally, we are in the process of obtaining the "Wildlife Estates" label.
