About Louverné forest

About Louverné forest

Located in the northwest of France, this land of about 12 hectares will soon see the growth of a peri-urban forest, a forest placed between an urban area and the countryside. Cut by National Road 162, the forest will be neighbours to the Bigottière estate and its 19th-century castle. The land is divided into three plots, one on the top of a hill with a northeast-facing slope and another on the west bank of the Pont Martin stream.
There are two beautiful ponds with splendid den trees and a wetland. The flora mainly consists of Ash, Common Oak, Norway Maple and Sycamore Maple, Herb-Robert Geranium, Cleaver, Hawthorn and Wild cherry. We plan to add more plantations to the area.

EcoTree’s forestry actions

EcoTree’s forestry actions

In the winter of 2023-2024, we will plant 6 hectares of sessile oak, Norway maple, sycamore maple, and checker trees. Additionally, we will be planting hedges and maintaining and preserving the existing hedges.
In the years following the planting season, we will implement all actions related to our sustainable forest development: protection of the saplings with a natural repellent Trico, clearing of competing vegetation, supplementary planting if necessary, followed by first thinnings and development of access roads.

EcoTree’s actions for biodiversity

EcoTree’s actions for biodiversity

A number of biodiversity actions have been carried out in our Louverné forest. Vigorous measures to preserve biodiversity include the upkeep of the two ponds and the 2.4-hectare wetland area, as well as the preservation of existing hedgerows. A new edge of more than 4,000 m2 will also be planted to diversify habitats and strengthen ecological connectivity. These actions demonstrate our commitment to a sustainable and balanced environment.
