It is home to the flower called Scilla, which is a protected species. Since our acquisition, a great deal of work has been carried out to allow the reforestation of a new high forest on this previously clear-cut area. Today, [Douglas fir](/en/species/2), [Scots pine, ](/en/species/23)[Sitka spruce](sitka-spruce%) and [red oak](/en/species/8) saplings are flourishing there. The forest has also been recognised as being a type I Natural Zone of Interest for Ecology, Fauna and Flora (ZNIEFF). Following this work, young seedlings of red oak, Scots pine, Douglas fir and Sitka spruce were planted. Manual clearing with a brush cutter was then performed to improve the quality of the stands. The saplings were also treated with [Trico](https://ecotree.green/en/blog/how-to-protect-trees-with-trico-a-natural-animal-repellent), a sheep fat-based repellent used to protect them from wildlife. In early winter 2022, a supplementary planting was carried out. Over the next few years, we will monitor the plantations and ensure their sustainable management. Manual clearance is also planned.
