This forest is home to [Douglas fir](/en/species/2), [sitka](/en/species/1) and [larch](/en/species/19) trees which take root at an altitude of about 791 metres. Part of the forest was a clear-cut area before EcoTree took over the land. Our forestry management model will include using irregular high forestry - meaning we plant different species with different ages to make the forest resistant. Since then, the saplings are doing well and a first weeding was carried out in 2021. We also applied Trico, a sheep fat-based repellent, on the saplings to protect them from deer browsing. The following year, inter-row mulching was done by our teams, to clear and count the saplings, before proceeding to a fill planting.
