EcoTree key contributor to the EU’s 3 billion Trees Pledge

Planting in France and Denmark sees EcoTree contribute more than 143,000 trees to the EU’s 3 Billion Trees initiative.

The European Union’s Green Deal includes a whole range of projects that together aim to help Europe become carbon neutral by 2050. We’re delighted that EcoTree is now an official contributor to 3 Billion Trees, an EU commitment to plant 3 billion trees in Europe by 2030.

Planting trees for a better future

Forests are vital carbon sinks in the fight against climate change and play an important role in all our lives. That’s why tree planting is so important and why the EU made the following commitment.

“Under the European Green Deal, the EU biodiversity strategy for 2030 commits to planting at least 3 billion additional trees in the EU by 2030 in full respect of ecological principles.”

Here at EcoTree, we believe in sustainable forest management and biodiversity conservation that protects natural habitats. Our expert forestry team nurtures forests across Europe and creates environments where plants and animals thrive.

Part of that work involves planting trees and that’s why the EU considers EcoTree a key contributor to its 3 Billion Trees Pledge, which is supported by the European Commission for the environment in the framework of the Green Deal, as well as the EU biodiversity strategy 2030.

Part of a global solution

The 3 Billion Trees pledge underlines just how important it is for the world to come together to conserve and protect the world’s forests.

Much like when EcoTree achieved B Corp certification, we are proud to be part of this international movement. Since joining the initiative, we’ve planted more than 143,000 trees in our French and Danish forests, the sixth most of any contributor.

In total, there have been almost 3 million trees planted in the EU. You can see EcoTree on the full list of organisations taking part over on the Forest Information System for Europe website.
