Ploërdut forest 2

Located in Brittany, our Ploërdut forest is made up of four individual plots that we acquired gradually over a period of time.
At Ploërdut 2, a small wood of mature Douglas fir has been preserved, whilst the rest of area has been cut by the previous owner. Thus, we replanted Sitka spruce and Red cedar with the aim of achieving a mixed high-forest with continuous forest cover.

This ground in the area is quite wet. We planted Sitka Spruce on this area in 2020, but it was difficult for the young trees to grow because of the terrain. Thus, we replanted in the spring of 2021. The trees have been covered with Trico, a repellent based on sheep fat. We also cleared the plot for competiting vegetation to give the tree better conditions to grow in. In 2022 we weeded out a second time and replanted where it was necessary. We layed down mulching in 2023.
