Plantings were scheduled for autumn 2023. However, from October 2023 to March 2024, incessant rains in the Limousin region saturated the soil, making soil preparation difficult. The machinery used for soil work risked creating deep ruts in these wet conditions, compromising the quality of the work, the sustainability of the forest ecosystem, and potentially attracting justified criticism regarding the state of the fields. Therefore, the plantations are postponed to autumn 2024. This postponement will allow for better soil preparation, including weeding and plowing, which are essential for successful planting. We estimate that about two weeks without rain are necessary for the soil to regain sufficient load-bearing capacity to support the weight of the machines. Afterward, our foresters will, if necessary, carry out replanting, protect the young plants, and do their best to ensure that this young forest becomes a beautiful irregular high forest.
