About Faouët 4 forest

About Faouët 4 forest

The Faouët forest is located in Brittany in France and is divided into 5 plots that we acquired between 2017 and 2022.
The various plots are bordered by two rivers and cover nearly 50 hectares in total. Our objective is to have uneven-aged stands on all the plots, while at the same time enriching the existing biodiversity and increasing the production of timber and industrial wood within the framework of sustainable forestry.
Faouët 4 is a previous agricultural land, where we have planted Douglas fir, Redwood, Western red wood, Atlas cedar, and Chestnut.

EcoTree’s forestry actions

EcoTree’s forestry actions

We planted with Redwood, Douglas fir and Chestnut in the winter of 2021. Trico was applied on all the seedlings and the competing vegetation was cleared. The survival of the saplings is very good (90% success rate). Fill planting was nevertheless carried out in 2022.
In 2023, the trees were trimmed and pruned to remove forks and large branches that compete with the trunk or compromise its straightness.
