### Small-leaved linden
**A symbol of gentleness, calm, and kindness**, the Small-leaved linden is the tree of village squares and long summer afternoons, whose intoxicating scent leaves a soft and reassuring mark on every summer it graces. It is **a tender gift for a birth**, a recovery, or to honour someone whose presence soothes and comforts.
Its summer flowers are among the most nectar-rich of any tree, drawing dozens of bee and pollinator species in a generous, continuous hum. Its dense foliage shelters varied insect fauna and many bird species, making it a precious tree for both urban and forest biodiversity.
The Small-leaved linden (*Tilia cordata*) is a large native deciduous tree of Europe, recognisable by its small heart-shaped leaves and delicately scented flowers. Its dried flowers have been used for centuries in herbal teas for their calming properties, and it is considered one of the most important species of the European temperate forest.

### About Ajoux Forest
Located between the villages of Mauves and Ajoux, on the slopes of the Serre du Pied de Boeuf in the Monts d'Ardèche, the forest borders the commune of Ajoux, with which it shares a name.
The Ajoux forest is located at an altitude of between 545 and 730 m, and the hills of the mountains is made up of of ridges and valleys irrigated by permanent or temporary streams. The area is facing North on steep slope of between 35° and 15°. The climate is continental and the forest rises on a granitic geological formation.
