### Maritime Pine
**A symbol of coastlines, freedom, and wide horizons**, the Maritime Pine is the emblematic tree of Atlantic heathlands and coastal forests, recognisable by its slender, wind-swept silhouette. It is **an evocative gift for someone who loves the sea**, wide open spaces, or the landscapes of the Atlantic coast.
Its cones and seeds feed many forest bird species, and its sheltered wood hosts a community of wood-boring and saproxylic insects that play an essential role in organic matter decomposition. Its resin, once exploited industrially, is still used in perfumery and herbal medicine.
The Maritime Pine (*Pinus pinaster*) is a conifer native to the western Mediterranean basin and the European Atlantic coast, forming with a few other species the great Landes forests. It is one of the main forest species of south-western France, covering several hundred thousand hectares.

### About Guiscriff forest
### About Guiscriff forest
Our Guiscriff forest is located in Morbihan in northwestern France. Previously, it was prairies and agricultural land. The forest grows in sandy and cleyey soil on a southfaceing granite bedrock, and benefits from more than 1.000 mm rainfall yearly. This forest will be planted with different species of trees by our local partners in the autumn of 2023. We are also upkeeping the embankment and hedges already present there.
