### Red Cedar
**A symbol of longevity**, robustness, and natural nobility, the Red Cedar is a tree of majestic presence that evokes the great temperate rainforests of the Pacific coast. It is **a striking gift for someone who loves rare and imposing species**, or to mark an event you wish to anchor in time.
Its evergreen, aromatic foliage provides year-round protective cover for many nesting bird and small mammal species. Its robust growth allows it to quickly play a structuring role in mixed forests, enriching the ecosystems where it is planted and contributing to their resilience against climatic uncertainty.
The Red Cedar (*Thuja plicata*) is a large conifer native to the north-west coast of North America, where some specimens can live for more than a thousand years. Its naturally rot-resistant wood was once sacred to the indigenous peoples of the North Pacific, who used it to build canoes, totem poles, and dwellings.

### About Gourin forest
The Gourin forest is located near the Conveau forest, within the commune of the same name, which is one of the most watered communes in Morbihan with an average annual rainfall of 1000 mm. This forest was originally made up of agricultural meadows that were left to be abandoned, as the terrain was not suitable for farming due to its sloping and isolated nature. With lack of maintenance, the meadows were overtaken by wasteland and oaks, willows and birches grew haphazardly amidst brambles and ferns on certain plots.
This forest plot changed hands multiple times, with different owners holding parcels of the property in joint ownership, until the last owners agreed and decided to sell the land to EcoTree in order to create areas for sustainable tree plantations.
