Redwood

Redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) also known as California Redwoods, Coast Redwood, or Coastal redwood, have populated the Earth for an impressive 200 million years, and can reach over 100m in height. Incidentally, the tallest tree in the world is a sequoia: it measures 115 meters and is located in Northern California. This species likes moist soils and a sufficient supply of light. Its thick bark protects it from fire, and its timber is used in carpentry.

About Berné 2 forest

The Berné 2 forest is located in the hinterland of Lorient in Brittany, France. This plantation dates back to 1991, and has long suffered from a lack of management. The site has been recognised as a type II Natural Zone of Interest for Ecology, Fauna and Flora (ZNIEFF). EcoTree acquired the forest in January 2021.
Since then, a number of forestry initiatives have been implemented to improve the forest's reforestation and move it towards sustainable management using irregular high-forest.
