### Italian maple
A symbol of originality and understated elegance, the Italian Maple is a rare and little-known tree that will delight curious and passionate nature lovers. It is an ideal gift for someone who loves going off the beaten track, or to mark a sincere and exceptional friendship.
Its spring flowers, among the first to open each year, are a precious nectar resource for bees and pollinating insects early in the season. Its foliage welcomes many small birds, and its samaras(fruit) provide a valued food source for several species in autumn.
The Italian Maple (Acer opalus) is a deciduous tree of the soapberry family, found mainly in the mountain regions of southern Europe. Its lobed leaves resemble those of the Guelder Rose, and its grey bark cracks with quiet elegance as it ages.

### About Montplonne Forest
### About Montplonne Forest
Between the communes of Montplonne and Stainville, the Montplonne Forest is located. The property is made up of 3 forest clusters comprising more than ten different species of trees. These include [whitebeams](/en/species/31), [Austrian black pines](/en/species/29) and Norway maples.
We acquired this large forest in the autumn of 2022 with the aim of bringing it to its full potential by adapting our management to its natural characteristics. Sanitary cuts were carried out there by the previous owner to combat the spread of bark beetles due to repeated droughts and mild winters in recent years.
