### European black pine
**A symbol of robustness, perseverance, and the capacity to withstand adversity**, the Austrian Black Pine is a tree of remarkable endurance that thrives even in the most demanding conditions. It is **a strong and understated gift for someone going through a challenging period**, or to mark a determination that never wavers. For example, as a Graduation gift.
Its cones and seeds feed crossbills, tits, and other forest birds throughout the year, and its scaly bark is a precious habitat for many saproxylic insects. Its evergreen canopy provides essential winter refuge for many bird and small mammal species.
The Austrian Black Pine (*Pinus nigra*) is a conifer native to central and southern Europe, used for centuries to protect degraded land and reforest inhospitable terrain. Its exceptional robustness makes it one of the cornerstones of reforestation policy across Europe.

### About Montplonne Forest
### About Montplonne Forest
Between the communes of Montplonne and Stainville, the Montplonne Forest is located. The property is made up of 3 forest clusters comprising more than ten different species of trees. These include [whitebeams](/en/species/31), [Austrian black pines](/en/species/29) and Norway maples.
We acquired this large forest in the autumn of 2022 with the aim of bringing it to its full potential by adapting our management to its natural characteristics. Sanitary cuts were carried out there by the previous owner to combat the spread of bark beetles due to repeated droughts and mild winters in recent years.
