### Checker tree
A symbol of rarity, authenticity, and wild beauty, the Checker tree is one of the most discreet and precious trees in our forests, whose presence signals an ancient and well-preserved ecosystem. It is a truly unique gift for a nature lover, or to mark an occasion that calls for something genuinely out of the ordinary.
Its small white spring flowers are a valued nectar source for pollinators, and its orange autumn berries feed many frugivorous bird species and small mammals. Its presence in a woodland is often the most reliable indicator of an ancient forest with exceptional biodiversity.
The Checker tree (Sorbus torminalis) is a deciduous tree in the rose family, with lobed leaves that resemble those of a maple. Once used in folk medicine for its digestive properties. Today, it is recognised as a precious indicator species for the biodiversity of ancient woodlands.

### About Montplonne Forest
### About Montplonne Forest
Between the communes of Montplonne and Stainville, the Montplonne Forest is located. The property is made up of 3 forest clusters comprising more than ten different species of trees. These include [whitebeams](/en/species/31), [Austrian black pines](/en/species/29) and Norway maples.
We acquired this large forest in the autumn of 2022 with the aim of bringing it to its full potential by adapting our management to its natural characteristics. Sanitary cuts were carried out there by the previous owner to combat the spread of bark beetles due to repeated droughts and mild winters in recent years.
