It is based on the natural growth rate of a tree, which is estimated at around 2% per year. This expected gain is referred to as “gross" because it is calculated on the basis of the price of the tree excluding VAT.

### Sitka Spruce
A symbol of wild grandeur, the Sitka Spruce is an imposing tree that evokes the misty and magnificent landscapes of the North Pacific coast. It is a striking gift for someone who loves nature in its most spectacular forms, or to celebrate the boldness of a fresh start.
Its rapid growth allows it to quickly form a dense forest canopy, offering refuge and protection to many bird and mammal species. In coastal areas, it plays an important role as a natural windbreak, protecting farmland and biodiversity from strong winds.
The Sitka Spruce (Picea sitchensis) is the largest conifer in Alaska and can exceed 90 metres in its natural habitat. Introduced to Europe for forestry, it is particularly valued for the quality of its light, resonant timber, widely used in instrument-making and shipbuilding.

### The Cléden-Poher 2 forest in a nutshell
Just a few kilometres from our [Cléden-Poher Forest](https://ecotree.green/en/offers/forest/cleden-poher-forest), the Cléden-Poher 2 Forest was hit hard by Storm Ciaran in early November 2023. Around 75% of the Sitka spruce trees, planted by the previous owner about thirty years ago, were lost in the storm.
The former owner, now retired, decided not to reinvest and chose to sell the land to us. In autumn 2024, after clearing the fallen trees, we will begin replanting. Our focus will be on tree species well-suited to the wet climate of this part of Finistère, including Western Red Cedar, Sitka Spruce, and Red Oak.
By reforesting this land, we aim to restore its natural beauty while ensuring a sustainable future for the forest.
