The trees planted in 2024 and 2025 are doing well and growing properly. The replanting (planting of young saplings to replace those that did not survive) carried out in February is suffering greatly from the drought: we can expect significant losses this summer – at least half – among these young saplings, which have not had time to put down deep roots. There are plenty of pollinators around. The forestry manager has decided not to carry out any clearing until the end of autumn, so that the grasses can protect the young tree saplings. He considers the young trees to be equally threatened by water shortage and by the intense heat of the summer UV rays. So while the grasses compete with them for water reserves, they offer in return a welcome shade. A few oaks have already been damaged by the heat, but the vast majority are doing well. The trees are healthy and a vibrant green, a sign of good health despite the many browsing attacks from deer.
